Replying to @V4_Dice, @knucklesthehot, @StryfeMinis and @Bhaal_Spawn
No, it means I have other priorities, and can only allocate a certain amount of my life to games, which I love, but definitely can't dedicate the same amount of time to as when I was 12. And that's absolutely normal.

What are we talking about here? An OPTION to skip boss fights and is completely OPTIONAL to use is a good thing. You don't want it, don't use it. Being able to beat a boss doesn't make you a better person than someone else. Stop basing your self worth on videogames.
Replying to @knucklesthehot, @V4_Dice, @StryfeMinis and @Bhaal_Spawn
I *am* good at many games. But I still think that more options is a good thing. If someone wants to skip boss fights (or, fuck it, ALL the fights) let them. I don't care. And I don't see anything particularly bad about it.

Why? Why is it good? I've just played through Psychonauts 2 which I think has both an option for complete invincibility, and a super overpowered mode. I didn't use them. Having toggles in the menu didn't kill my game. If someone else uses them, I don't mind. Why are we arguing?
Replying to @knucklesthehot, @V4_Dice, @StryfeMinis and @Bhaal_Spawn

Replying to @knucklesthehot, @V4_Dice, @StryfeMinis and @Bhaal_Spawn
Idk. Maybe I'm tired after a long day. Maybe I've tried the boss 5 times, and it's late and I can't exactly beat them, but I would like to know what a story is afterwards. Maybe it's time to put my kids in bed in 15 min, and yet I still want to PUSH BUTTONS & make stuff happen.
Replying to @knucklesthehot, @V4_Dice, @StryfeMinis and @Bhaal_Spawn
There are TONS of reasons for easier mode, and NONE of them are vindicated by "but what if you don't actually want to play" YES. That is still ACTUALLY playing. If it's not to you, it still might be for others. Again, don't judge your own worth in videogames.

Today's video game "discussions" are driving me to drink, but if the original System Shock let you set the enemies to immobile and non-attacking, yes, it's okay to give the player an option to not fight bosses/lose lives/die... etc. if they don't feel like it.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
There's more to video games than acing them 100%. It's okay to be good at them. It's okay to be okay at them. It's okay to be a speedrunner. It's okay to only beat them on the easiest difficulty. It's GREAT to have options to tailor the challenge to yourself.

- I've seen a few 2 - 5 seconds clips, so I'm aware of its aesthetics

- Someone told me it's a rail shooter, but I don't think that's true???

I love that people are still discovering The Evil Dead, but it hurts to see them watch the new "fixed up" version. These flubs are legendary. They've inspired generations of filmmakers by providing an awkward peek behind the scenes. They've been talked about for decades.
Replying to @dosnostalgic
(Also worth mentioning: I'm a *big* fan of options. I wouldn't be so upset if the fixed up version was marked as such, and an option to view the film restored, but as close to the original as possible was also provided.)
Replying to @neqone
I haven't seen the most recent 4K master yet, but master before that "fixes" so much:
- Rob Tapert hiding in the bushes
- night time outside when they 1st enter cabin
- "post stamp" moon
- hand opening trap door
- jump cut with Scottie deadite
- shifting matte in the end
etc.
Alright, let's see what this Killer7 deal is all about.

PC adventure game Dark Seed requires VGA, but what it actually does is run in the 640x350 EGA mode (10h), and then use VGA's capabilities to set the 16 colors beyond the default 64 color palette of that mode.
So here it is in EGA, without the custom VGA palette. #DOSGaming

This is far from the only game to use the trick, and not just in the high resolution mode. For example Duke Nukem 2 does that as well (apart from the intro) because it's an extension of Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure. #DOSGaming

I really enjoy the sequel, but it's kind of like Escape from L.A. situation. It's essentially a self spoof. A response to the reaction to the first film. First film is honest. The sequel is winking at you. I call it the Gremlins 2 of Russian gangster films.
Replying to @kirilldozer and @TyTannenbaum
Well, the sequel was being made with Yeltsin still being in office. In fact it came out b4 Putin was officially inaugurated, I think. It does show off the new aggressive patriotism for sure, and in a sense it sort of "predicted" Putin, but it does so almost jokingly, I feel.
Replying to @kirilldozer and @TyTannenbaum
The fist movie was hailed as the "arrival of the modern times Russian moral hero", and... it's not that at all! So in the second movie it's all power fantasy and all, but... he goes to the States to kill an American because a Russian mobster lied to him. He's not a smart man.
Replying to @kirilldozer and @TyTannenbaum
Balabanov was often confronted with the question of Danila attitude toward foreigners in the first films, and he always had to say "I don't understand why this is being asked of me, instead of the character," and to me that's the most telling thing about the sequel.
Replying to @kirilldozer and @TyTannenbaum
First movie is /kind of/ about surviving in the new times, but in the end is it? Is Danila right? All he wanted was to relate to someone. And he has no one. The only moral person is German the hobo who doesn't want anything to do with him because he kills people. Danila is alone.
Replying to @kirilldozer and @TyTannenbaum
Yes, which is why the first film is a masterpiece, and the sequel isn't, but I think it's kind of unique to see a sequel to a super indie film that didn't betray the characters, and still managed to carry a message, even if it didn't get recognized... again.
Replying to @kirilldozer
Are you Russian? Because just the opening scene sets the mood perfectly for the time. God, I look back at it and I almost can't believe Balabanov got away with it.
Replying to @kirilldozer
Well, the you're the best audience for it because you don't need to embrace the extremes that are depicted in the film (for a joke). Foreigners react to the 1st film well because of this, I feel, but the sequel needs a whole lot more context.

There's really not much to get. It's mainly how much of one's sensibilities align with Anderson's. His films are all just whimsy and extreme silliness wrapped up in doll house aesthetic & 60+ year old European (mainly French) cinema/culture references, and not much beyond that.
Replying to @MobyGamer
So the less of these elements are appealing to a viewer, the less entertaining those movies become, to the point that for many people they either don't do anything, or, in fact, they find any combination of these elements annoying.

This is exactly what I felt when the final trailer was released. Why? Why would he do this to himself? He had made a bunch of pretty great movies, and now he has to sit in meeting that are dictating how much Walmart he has to feature in this so called "film"?
Replying to @expectproblems
Eh. I gave that movie a fair shot, that's about all I can say about it.
Replying to @expectproblems
I mean, I did laugh once which is to be fair more than during 90% of American "comedies" made during the last 20 years or so.
Replying to @expectproblems
At least 2016 did apparently sell their soul to the Demons of Merchandising and is now obligated to feature EVERYTHING in every promo material that comes out. Can't believe there's an actual WalMart in the TRAILER. Afterlife *looks* like garbage. Why is it lit like a commercial?
Replying to @expectproblems
I did laugh at the end credits of 22 Jump Street. That I remember. Nothing to do with the rest of movie, so whoever they hired to do all of that deserves all the accolades.
Replying to @expectproblems
The small "clip" that they released a while ago was Paul Rudd in a WalMart. Then the final trailer has him running out of a WalMart, and the framing is done in such a way that the store logo is front and center. And it's lit like everyone just gave up a long time ago.🤦♂️
Replying to @expectproblems
This. Every bit of good faith I may have had towards this movie was destroyed by these 50 seconds. And then the new trailers buried it deep underground.

Very few horror franchises get to completely and successfully reinvent themselves, but somehow Child's Play pulled it off with Bride of Chucky. And it did it with
a) original creator still in charge.
b) most 90s way possible.
I always loved this opening credits sequence.
Replying to @MomentDEFINED
Post Child's Play 3 movies (and a current TV show) are pretty fun, although they do require a certain trashy sense of humor.
Replying to @MomentDEFINED
Imo Seed (5) and Cult (7) are the weakest in the series (besides 3, which is just bleh), but it all depends on how much you're into the humorous side of the series, which has been carrying on since then.
