Replying to @bergmayer and @benjedwards
Where are you running it? DOS doesn't just support LFN out of the box, so your problem might be there instead of a file manager.
Replying to @bergmayer and @benjedwards
That would be the problem then. You'd either need one of the custom builds of DosBox that use LFN by default, or you'd need to load an LFN "driver" in your current build of DosBox.
Replying to @bergmayer and @benjedwards
Also be aware that the standard build of DosBox just might not be able to run a TSR you want, because it doesn't emulate the environment 100%. I believe DosBox-X has built in LFN support you can enable in the config file.
Interesting early 3D tree solution - always front facing segments.
Replying to @sanmonterodev
You're cutting out the middle man, as it is an application native to your platform, thus gaining speed and accuracy, and allowing for more new options. In this particular case the AdLib emulation is replaced for more accurate one than that of the main DosBox branch, for example.

Characters speak gibberish in cutscenes, and are subtitled. I know there's an English demo that the devs made. I also know there's a exe update that changes some stuff into English. But the game's scripts are simple text files, which means it wouldn't be hard to translate at all.
Replying to @cookedmonty
Yeah, so I just looked, and the English exe just turns the game's internal messages (The "press ESC" on the bootup, key bindings, etc) into English, but literally everything else is loaded from the script files on the CD, menus included.
Replying to @NotGyro and @pup_hime
It's called a cockpit, and it's pretty standard for vehicular games. It changes based on a vehicle you board. Each has graphical indicators for speed and ammo, and an occasional animated element.

Battlezone's controls are actual tank controls, but nobody calls them that.
Replying to @MobyGamer and @DarkBlueMonkey
What are other cases of Battlezone's controls being used? What is the % of ports that even used that same scheme? Battlezone's controls are essentially a one off, and therefore any classification of it is pointless. There's never a need to refer to them outside of Battlezone.
Replying to @MobyGamer and @deABREU
Yes, that's what I'm looking for. My memory tells me that the scheme wasn't really popularly referred to it as such until some time in the late 90s, maybe around 1997-8. But of course it could just be that's what it for popular, and not originated at that time.
Replying to @MobyGamer and @DarkBlueMonkey
My issue with that is when people say "Grim Fandango has tank controls" they don't instantly have to make a verbal asterisk of ", but not like Battlezone." It's exempt from that discussion.
I had no idea they've updated the late 90s BattleZone action-rts hybrids a few years ago, and they are currently available. Those games were the shit.
Replying to @MobyGamer and @DarkBlueMonkey
There's been a dozen of Battlezone games, and how many of them have these tank controls exactly? So I actually have to add an asterisk when discussing them. "Tank controls" has meant RE controls for a long time, and if the term existed in arcades, it went by the way of "boards".
Replying to @MobyGamer and @DarkBlueMonkey
Actually, all joking aside, I wouldn't. I'd have to think about the other one, and realize "oh, yes, you're in a TANK". RE controls discussion has been around long enough for me to instantly have that image when I hear the term.
Replying to @DarkBlueMonkey and @MobyGamer
I understand, and this isn't really an evidence of much, BUT compare Twitter searches for
"Tank controls" battle zone (incl. "battlezone"): https://x.com/search?q=%22tank%20controls%22%20battle%20zone&src=typed_query&f=live
with
"tank controls" "resident evil": https://x.com/search?q=%22tank%20controls%22%20%22resident%20evil%22&src=typed_query&f=live
latter is being mentioned at least ONCE A DAY
Replying to @MobyGamer and @DarkBlueMonkey
Yes, I agree. It's the argument that was essentially built into the joking observation I was making. A tank controls like Battlezone, which Resident Evil doesn't. Maybe one day I'll actually search through the old magazines to see if I can find when RE's controls got named that.

The assets are completely different when you actually see them side by side. All the animations are new too, as rendering and animation systems are also different on these platforms.

Also remember that Conker's development started 4 years prior to its eventual release, so no. There was nothing to compress there. Not like that's how things work with 3D assets anyway.

Localization trivia: in the Soviet dub of Star Wars the Millennium Falcon made the Kessel Run in eight parsecs instead of twelve because in Russian every number after 8 has more than one vowel, and that wouldn't match the lips.
Replying to @JakeNelsonMN
Soviet dubbing was usually *extremely* well done, this example is from the 80s when not as much attention was paid to it anymore. I think the reason for it is the word "parsecs" which is the same, so the translator decided to structure the sentence accordingly.
Replying to @joshuadotworks
All official Russian translations have been awful since the late 90s, so I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a number given at all! (That was a joke. Kind of. But no, I'm sure they didn't keep it. Not many people have even seen the original dub.)

Correct, but it was the easiest way of explaining it to a non-Russian speaker. You can pronounce восемь in one breath with a more or less single mouth movement, while you can't do that for others.
