All current BD transfers (at least the US ones) are from one master. They are good, but they have been hastily "fixed" in places. The post stamp moon is gone, and many other effects were cleaned up rather poorly.

To me the remake breaks the game. The fun of PQ1 (& partially 2) is that you get to type out commands like "Get out of the car", "drop the gun", etc. during the execution of the procedure. No such thing in VGA remake. Also, while the driving is made easier, it takes forever.

Last time I played PQ4 (which must have been a decade and a half ago), it made me feel gross. Like I needed a shower. First screen has a dead child on it, then minutes later the "puzzle" is to shove a woman out of the way. Then it's all downhill from there.

You should check it out. Some parts of it are fucking "magic" if you can mentally divorce it from the rest of the series. Brad Dourif making out with an alien through glass is priceless. Also with Whedon it's almost proto-Firefly sometimes.

The production was a mess. They had sets, but no script. Most of it was just made up on the spot, and then they came back for reshoots after a pass at a full cut. I can understand why Fincher never wants to talk about it again.

Dangerous Dave 2 is an extremely underrated game. Great graphics, perfect controls, interesting game mechanics; it's all there. The only downfall is that id Software ran out of time/interest in the end, & the last few levels are clearly made as fast as possible.
